Valve Are Making Changes to the Steam Store

Valve is one of the biggest names in the video game industry making influential games like, Portal, Counter-strike, Dota, and Half-life. Over recent years Valve has taken a step back in game development. Their focus now has been improving on their PC gaming platform (Steam). Many updates and changes later, Steam has grown to become one of the most dominate gaming platforms on PC. Now Valve is working on a new revamped store page, promising major changes to what games the user see on the store page.

The news wasn’t for public eyes, only steam developers got an early notice about the changes to come. A NeoGaf user Nzyme32 posted a full report from Valve and the changes that are coming in the near future. In the report Valve says they are completely changing the store front. In doing so they believe they can get the user to see games that interests them.

Here is the full report of the Steam changes

There are many changes that provide the user the right content. To name a couple, a refresh to the home page, additional options on left column, and friends activity. More options for curation will provide feedback on posts. After posting the curator can indicate whether their post is recommended, not recommended, or informational. The main thing to take from the new update is Valve is trying to get games to the user faster and with ease without navigating through the store.

I use Steam like most PC gamers and it’s a good marketplace. But the overwhelming flow of games is too much. Looking at new releases there are so many games that I just scroll by that don’t have my attention. The queue list of recommended games is a feature that I don’t use often, but when I do use it, it shows the games that I already seen and pass by. With the new upcoming update, I don’t have to actively search for games, it’s already presented to me right off the bat.

Overall the steam store needed a major change. With so many games releasing everyday it gets harder to find the games that the user wants to play. Even though the public shouldn’t be able to know this information yet, I’m glad it got out. To know that valve wants to improve on what is already a huge success in Steam, gives me confidence that Steam will be a much better marketplace in the foreseeable future. I still use Steam and really appreciate what they do in providing gamers with digital games. I hope with the new upcoming update players will continue using and supporting the biggest gaming platform on PC.

Fortnite: Battle Royale: Season 4 Just Made Some Crazy Changes and I in Love with it

Fortnite has become this huge juggernaut in the gaming industry ever since Epic released their Battle Royale mode in late September. The Battle Pass implementation gave the player a progression system that gamify the Battle Royale mode, of which PUBG does not have. Having something to accomplish in-between gathering and fighting during each match creates a sense of accomplishment. In a game where there is a 100-player free-for-all fight, your chances of winning are low, allowing the Battle Pass rewards gives the player this satisfaction of accomplishment even if you lose. Over the past month, Epic has been teasing and creating ARGs in-game for the lead up to Season 4. Hearing about the meteors crashing down on Tilted Towers was cool but I didn’t think anything of it, as I thought it to be a cosmetic choice. But after seeing the video where Titled Towers got hit with small meteors during a match made me believe that the rumored Superhero themed Season Pass might be true. Long a
