More Nintendo Switch in January

After the release trailer of the Nintendo Switch every gamer looked and dissect the trailer for what the Switch can do. Questions like what’s the battery life on the tablet, what games will release with the console, and if the dock station will have an extra processor for higher resolution on the big screen. The trailer has gone and passed, in which it provided us with a little more information about the Switch. But now we must wait until next year to hear full details of Nintendo’s next console.

Last week a lot of gamers took a close look at the trailer trying to piece together features that weren’t present in the trailer. After all the speculation, there is finally some concrete details about the screen technology. Reported by Eurogamer, the Nintendo Switch will have a 6.2”in display and support 720p resolution. The Switch will also have touchscreen functionality and for the first time ever, a Nintendo console will support multi-touch functionality.

The thing that had me thinking about the touch functionality is how it will be used while docked? Then the Eurogamer report mentions, " The Switch's touchscreen is almost entirely obscured within the console's dock." Players must play it using the joy-cons or the pro controller. There might be a solution for touch screen function while docked and that is the IR sensor (infrared sensors). There is an IR sensor located on the right joy-con, it is not yet known what it will be used for. Could the IR sensor be the answer for touch function while docked? We must wait until next year. Knowing this detail, it’s obvious that Nintendo is killing the two-screen model for their hardware.

Hopefully there will be some leaks before the next Switch event. Speaking of the next Switch event. In January, Nintendo is hosting a streaming on full details of the Switch in Tokyo, Japan. Expect price, release date, and games during the event. Shortly after, Nintendo will have players try out the Switch with a “Nintendo Switch Demo Event” on January 14 and 15 at Tokyo Big Sight.

Nintendo can finally bring back old fans with the Switch. Now that they are moving away from the Wii U and 3DS we can see the Nintendo that we all remembered and loved. We could look forward on the Switch event and all the games that will come with it. But first, let’s see what the Switch is made of. It’s an innovative idea but innovation includes problems that is difficult face, but also it creates a new and fresh appeal to other gamers.

Destiny 2’s New “Gambit” Mode Revived the Game’s Competitive Scene

Destiny 2’s competitive scene has always been a second thought compared to the co-op PvE activities. At the launch of Destiny 2 Bungie tried a different more team-play orientated approach with an all 4v4 pvp match-up. Over time players got tired of that formula, especially, the way players were strategizing. The only way to be competitive is to team-shot a player at long distance, this was the only way everyone played. This kept the matches long and stale. Bungie understood the frustration and decided that they will change something about the Crucible (PvP). In July, Bungie pushed an update that changed the 4v4 format for Crucible to a 6v6, just how it was like in Destiny 1. Adding two more players on a team might not seem like a big change, but it completely changes how freely your team can strategize, this is especially true with solo matchmaking. Bungie knocked it out of the park with this change, of course they had a lot of help from the community. The community wanted th...

Mario Tennis Aces “Swing Mode” is Really Disappointing

Mario Tennis Aces is the latest entry to the Mario Tennis series. This time around Nintendo did no wrong with their tennis series giving us an adventure mode where you move from level to level to complete a series of challenges, a fun online/offline tournament, and exciting local play. I haven’t played the Mario Tennis series since the GameCube days, but I’m having as much fun as I did back then, expect for one mode that made me hate motion controls. During the lead up to launch I had questions about full motion controls, if they would support it for full matches? Can it be an alternative? and will it be like Wii Sports or will it have depth will in the base game? These questions were answered just a couple of days before launch and I was disappointed in how Nintendo implemented the motion controls. Coming from the developers of Wii Sports and how well the motion controls worked with the tennis mini-game gave me hope that Nintendo could do something great with motion ...

My Game of the Year (2017) – Destiny 2 #3

There was a lot of excitement for the Bungie ’s second go around with Destiny 2 . There was a lot of controversy over what was changed and what didn’t return from the first Destiny .  At first the changes were for the better, it allowed new players to finally wrap their head around the system that was difficult to process in original Destiny.   Rising reputation with an NPC is one change that was assessable newcomers. In Destiny 1 it always felt like a chore, because of the bounty system. This system made it a more difficult task due to the action associated with the bounty – this can range from headshots with a sniper in PvP to complete 3 strikes. With Destiny 2 , the reputation is more streamline with turn-in tokens. Earning these tokens are common and I great resource of gear/weapons when you’re first starting out. These tokens are associated with each planet. Its great Bungie is listening to the players and in doing so, made an assessable loot shooter for the ca...
