PlayStation held an event to reveal two new additions
to their PlayStation 4 family. The PlayStation (Slim) and The PlayStation Pro.
The Slim will function the same as the original PS4. The PS4 Pro is the main
reason everyone was so excited about this event. Along with new hardware they
will be releasing a firmware update for the other PS4s. The update will feature
High Dynamic Range (HDR). This will keep the existing PS4 community from
feeling like they've been abandoned.
The PlayStation
Slim was first at the event. Which they are replacing as the base PS4 model.
The Slim was already leak two weeks before the event. They didn’t spend much
time talking about features, mostly because gamers have seen its ins and outs. Soon, existing PS4 owners will receive a firmware upgrade that should excite everyone.
This model will be available in stores on September 15, 2016 for $299.
Now for the main hardware everyone wanted to see. The PlayStation Pro. The focus was how powerful the Pro can be with 4K
HDR features. It will have improved GPU, 1TB, Boost in Clock rate,
Interoperability, and 4K HDR. They showed footage of old games like, Tomb
Raider and Shadow of Mordor. Games that already release will have an update
that will use 4K and HDR features. And new games will already have the features
on release. They wanted to make the fans know that games release will include
all versions of PS4.
The new games they showed
couldn’t be shown in full 4K on stream. When they changed the videos to HDR I
couldn’t even tell what changed. They showed new games on the Pro (Mass Effect:
Andromeda, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare). Aaryn Flynn
(EA) and Andy Hendrickson (CoD CEO) were excited to use the technology to
farther the limits of development. 4K was the main feature of the Pro, not only
for gaming but for video streaming also, but not with Blu-ray 4K. With a new
Netflix app exclusive to the Pro, there will be over 100 of hours of 4K content.
The PlayStation Pro will be released on November 10, 2016. That was same price
as the base PS4 at launch and available for pre-order now.
PlayStation
is trying to make the new hardware co-exist with the other console in the
family. It’s clear that they want everyone to play with the best gaming
experience possible. Well now there is with the Pro for the best gaming
quality. And even the base and slim versions will have an upgrade that will
feature HDR lighting. In connecting the PS4 community, all games for the PS4
will work on any PS4 model. The Pro isn’t a first buy for me, because the
upgrade isn’t that much of a boost. The firmware upgrade to the PS4 just makes
it the more reason to wait for the Pro.
Thanks for this post. I definitely agree with what you are saying. I have been talking about this subject a lot lately with my friends.
