Call of Duty XP 2016

Call of Duty is one of the biggest and well known franchises in the industry. On September 2nd they held a fan event called,” The Call of Duty Experience” (CoD XP) showing the game’s multi-player features. This year’s CoD XP was a little different. In addition of showing multi-player for their upcoming game Infinite Warfare, they also showed multi-player for two other games. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remaster will be packaged with Infinite Warfare; that won’t be sold on its own. Also a new DLC is out for Black Ops 3 called, “Salvation”. This DLC will be focused on new multi-player maps and zombies.

Infinity Ward’s new Call of Duty game, Infinite Warfare is a new take for the franchise. Call of Duty have always been in the World War II setting. The past two games have focused more on the futuristic setting with wall running and jetpacks. With a new setting, Infinity Ward can create new and interesting features that captures the world of futuristic warfare. The focus for the multi-player was customizing your gameplay. Keeping the same feel and pace of Black Ops 3, with new mechanics to customize your playstyle called,” combat rigs”. The game will come with six rigs. The “War Fighter” is for completing objectives quickly, “Merc” is a heavy rig with defense, and” FTL” will allow the player more mobility. The other three rigs “Stryker” a support, “Phantom” a more stealth rig, and “Synaptic” a mix of stealth and speed. This way there are more options to play now than ever.

For the first time Call of Duty is introducing a crafting system. In Infinite Warfare, players will have the ability to craft base weapons into proto-type weapons. Every proto-type weapon will have its own perks. Each proto-type weapon will be given a rarity, the higher the rarity the rarer the perks you get with the proto-type weapon. Playing more will earn you more proto-type weapons.

The release of Infinite Warfare is also going to include Modern Warfare Remaster; one of the most well criticized Call of Duty game. The remaster will contain all 16 maps from the original game. 10 maps will be available on release. The other six will be added in later for free. I just missed the Modern Warfare window when I got into Call of Duty. This gives me more reason to play one of the greatest first-person shooters of all time.

The latest Call of Duty will be receiving their final DLC pack called, “Salvation”. The DLC will include four maps Citadel, Micro, Outlaw, and Rapture. Also it will come with a new zombie’s map called, “Revelations Zombies”. The DLC is available for PS4 now. The Xbox One and PC will be released later.

The event was to celebrate the community. Everything that was shown was all for the fans. It got me interested in the franchise again even though I’m not a really big fan of the franchise.

Destiny 2’s New “Gambit” Mode Revived the Game’s Competitive Scene

Destiny 2’s competitive scene has always been a second thought compared to the co-op PvE activities. At the launch of Destiny 2 Bungie tried a different more team-play orientated approach with an all 4v4 pvp match-up. Over time players got tired of that formula, especially, the way players were strategizing. The only way to be competitive is to team-shot a player at long distance, this was the only way everyone played. This kept the matches long and stale. Bungie understood the frustration and decided that they will change something about the Crucible (PvP). In July, Bungie pushed an update that changed the 4v4 format for Crucible to a 6v6, just how it was like in Destiny 1. Adding two more players on a team might not seem like a big change, but it completely changes how freely your team can strategize, this is especially true with solo matchmaking. Bungie knocked it out of the park with this change, of course they had a lot of help from the community. The community wanted th...

Mario Tennis Aces “Swing Mode” is Really Disappointing

Mario Tennis Aces is the latest entry to the Mario Tennis series. This time around Nintendo did no wrong with their tennis series giving us an adventure mode where you move from level to level to complete a series of challenges, a fun online/offline tournament, and exciting local play. I haven’t played the Mario Tennis series since the GameCube days, but I’m having as much fun as I did back then, expect for one mode that made me hate motion controls. During the lead up to launch I had questions about full motion controls, if they would support it for full matches? Can it be an alternative? and will it be like Wii Sports or will it have depth will in the base game? These questions were answered just a couple of days before launch and I was disappointed in how Nintendo implemented the motion controls. Coming from the developers of Wii Sports and how well the motion controls worked with the tennis mini-game gave me hope that Nintendo could do something great with motion ...

My Game of the Year (2017) – Destiny 2 #3

There was a lot of excitement for the Bungie ’s second go around with Destiny 2 . There was a lot of controversy over what was changed and what didn’t return from the first Destiny .  At first the changes were for the better, it allowed new players to finally wrap their head around the system that was difficult to process in original Destiny.   Rising reputation with an NPC is one change that was assessable newcomers. In Destiny 1 it always felt like a chore, because of the bounty system. This system made it a more difficult task due to the action associated with the bounty – this can range from headshots with a sniper in PvP to complete 3 strikes. With Destiny 2 , the reputation is more streamline with turn-in tokens. Earning these tokens are common and I great resource of gear/weapons when you’re first starting out. These tokens are associated with each planet. Its great Bungie is listening to the players and in doing so, made an assessable loot shooter for the ca...
