PlayStation Experience 2016 Was All About Trailers

This past weekend PlayStation Experience (PSX) was held in Anaheim Convention Center. And what an experience it was. Trailers was being presented left and right. Everything from Lara Croft Go to The Last of Us. Last year’s PSX didn’t show much trailers, but they were memorable. This year was the same, but more! With that there were also many highlights from it.

Naughty Dog had a massive showing at PSX2016. Last year they showed Uncharted 4, this year they showed off gameplay of what looks to be a stand-alone DLC for Uncharted known as,” Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.” In the trailer, you won’t be playing as Nathan Drake, but as Chloe (Uncharted 2 & 3). She is sneaking through a war zone to meet with an accomplice, that you might know.

Uncharted was just a taste from Naughty Dog. At the end of the conference, Naughty Dog released, but has said that this game was in very early development. The Last of Us: Part 2. The trailer had no gameplay – that’s expected, it was more a setting focus trailer. It starts out with an older Ellie playing a guitar and singing around dead bodies. At the end of the trailer Joel comes in and tries to comfort Ellie.

When think about JRPGs I think of a colorful world, diverse characters, deep mechanics, and an engaging narrative. Ni No Kuni fits that description and executes it perfectly. This game was one of the most beloved JRPG of the PS3 generation, it makes sense to make a sequel. The trailer gives some narratives within enemies, creatures, and the protagonist. Combat and open world gameplay was also shown.

Guerrilla Games is well-known for their FPS Kill Zone series. For them to develop a game completely different from Kill Zone is a little concerning. But watching all the trailers of Horizon: Zero Dawn I can’t stop but to stare in awe because of the world, the sense of scale, and gigantic robotic dinosaurs. This trailer doesn’t give much in terms of gameplay but provides a little more narrative and the motivation of the main character.

2016 has been a great year for video games, both indies and AAA titles. It’s now the time to look forward to the new year and new games. PSX2016 was a show case of 2017 games, and there were a lot of them. Let’s hope PlayStation top this year PSX next year. But for now, let’s get ready for another great year of video games.

Fortnite: Battle Royale: Season 4 Just Made Some Crazy Changes and I in Love with it

Fortnite has become this huge juggernaut in the gaming industry ever since Epic released their Battle Royale mode in late September. The Battle Pass implementation gave the player a progression system that gamify the Battle Royale mode, of which PUBG does not have. Having something to accomplish in-between gathering and fighting during each match creates a sense of accomplishment. In a game where there is a 100-player free-for-all fight, your chances of winning are low, allowing the Battle Pass rewards gives the player this satisfaction of accomplishment even if you lose. Over the past month, Epic has been teasing and creating ARGs in-game for the lead up to Season 4. Hearing about the meteors crashing down on Tilted Towers was cool but I didn’t think anything of it, as I thought it to be a cosmetic choice. But after seeing the video where Titled Towers got hit with small meteors during a match made me believe that the rumored Superhero themed Season Pass might be true. Long a
