Why Purchasing Remaster Games are Good for Video Games

On Friday, the 28 th Bethesda re-release The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Like a lot of Elder Scrolls fans, I’m excited to hear other players story in their return to Skyrim or see their first time in Skyrim. Skyrim wasn’t the only big remaster that released in the past few months, 2K’s Bioshock: The Collection was released on September 13 th – which includes all the Bioshock games and DLC. The policy they provided for the remaster editions was to buy a full copy of the remaster or if you  already have a copy (on PC) they will provide the owner with a free upgrade path. Giving these remaster version shows that both publishers care about their respective games. Both games were masterpieces during their original release and to give them a remaster was just part of the course. Games that were masterpieces in the past and have the community for it will most likely get a remaster edition. Remastering games for some player might be a quick cash and grab, but I see it as preservi

More Nintendo Switch in January

After the release trailer of the Nintendo Switch every gamer looked and dissect the trailer for what the Switch can do. Questions like what’s the battery life on the tablet, what games will release with the console, and if the dock station will have an extra  processor  for higher resolution on the big screen. The trailer has gone and passed, in which it provided us with a little more information about the Switch. But now we must wait until next year to hear full details of Nintendo’s next console. Last week a lot of gamers took a close look at the trailer trying to piece together features that weren’t present in the trailer. After all the speculation, there is finally some concrete details about the screen technology. Reported by  Eurogamer , the Nintendo Switch will have a 6.2”in display and support 720p resolution. The Switch will also have touchscreen functionality and for the first time ever, a Nintendo console will support multi-touch  functionality . The thing that had

Everything I want from the Nintendo “Switch”

For about a year now gamers have been speculating on what the Nintendo NX is. Well everyone can now take a break from that, for now. Earlier this week Nintendo released an announcement trailer for the NX... I mean the Nintendo Switch. They didn’t present any specs in the trailer, leaving more question than answers. Nintendo is changing way we play games, again. Do you want to play at home? How about on the go? You can do both! The Switch seems like a new and fresh idea that works, but there is still so much we don’t know about it. Every passing day there has been new rumors and leaks of the Switch. I think the biggest rumor is if the Switch will support touch screens? From watching the trailer, they made a noticeable point that no one is touching the screen. When I first saw the trailer I automatically assumed that it was going to have touch functionality. But the trailer distinctly did not show touch interaction in any way. Touch functionality has been with us in technolog

The Nintendo “Switch” is Set to Release in March

First Look At Nintendo Switch ( 3 Minutes ) The long waited Nintendo NX, now known to be the Nintendo “Switch” has been announced for March 2017. Now everyone can breathe and stop making-up rumors. Nintendo released a 3 minute trailer this morning to show off its functionality. All the rumors leading up that the next Nintendo console will be a hybrid from handheld to home console was correct, everyone was right. In the announcement trailer they showed how the Switch would be used in an everyday situation. The hybrid console/handheld are two detachable controllers that you can attach to your Switch devices. You can transform it into a handheld by sliding them onto a tablet looking device that is connected to the console docking station. The controllers can be used separate, as shown in the trailer you can see that they are using each controller to play a Mario Kart. Alongside the tablet is a framed controller for home

Red Dead Redemption 2 Teaser Trailer

Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer ( 1 minute )  What a day to be a gamer. We can finally take a breather from Nintendo NX rumors as the Nintendo “Switch” is finally announced. But there was another big news that came out this morning and that was the teaser trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2. There wasn’t much to go on with the trailer, except for the environment of the game. Right off the bat you can see the level of detail in the character models and the environment. Filled with beautiful landscapes and mountains. From watching some let’s play videos of the first Red Dead Redemption the environment feels a little different. The world looks more alive, colourful, lush, and peaceful. On the PlayStation blog, the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer was posted and stated, “PS4 players will get first access to earn select online content in the vast open world of Red Dead Redemption.” I don’t really know what this means. Maybe PS4 players will get early access to an online beta, or ear

Rockstar Ready to Announce the Next Red Dead?

Rockstar, one of the most successful game developers ever. Most of Rockstar’s games are huge hits, they’re mostly known for their Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise. They had success with other games like, L.A Noire, Max Payne, and Red Dead Redemption. Yesterday Rockstar release an image on their social media pages teasing what could be a new Red Dead game. This morning they released another image with seven cowboys walking away from the sunset. First image (Oct.16) Second Image (Oct.17) Red Dead rumors has been floating around the past few months. In April a map that looks to be an extension of the Red Dead Redemption map was leaked. After a long look at the map gamers found out that the map is from Red Dead Redemption but from the past. Following that news players quickly put the pieces together and

Finally, Dualshock 4 Will Have Steam Support

The Dualshock 4 is a really slick and comfortable controller. And it’s a shame that windows 10 doesn’t support it well enough. You got to go through a bit of a process to even start it up. Well now Valve has an answer to all the Dualshock 4 users. An event that Valve held – Steam Dev Days – talked about early access games, VR content, Steam controller support and much more. During the controller support presentation Jeff Bellinghausen (Valve) and Lars Doucet (Level-up Labs) took stage and talked in-depth about Steam Controllers. The full transcript can be located at Gamasutra ( via Kotaku ). At the beginning of the presentation Jeff talked about sales now and projected sales of the Steam controller. After Jeff’s presentation Lars took stage and talk about the problems of controller support for Steam. Near the end of the presentation he goes on to mentions 3 rd party controller support. The first controller that is going to be supported is the Dualshock 4. Lars makes a point

Metal Gear Solid V Definitive Edition is Available, Just in Time Too

Metal Gear Solid V (MGS) is the last Metal Gear game from Kojima productions. Metal Gear Solid: V Definitive Edition will be packaged with Grounds Zeros, The Phantom Pain and all the DLC. All in one package, releasing today October 11. If you had thoughts about buying Metal Gear Soild V, this is the best way to get the Metal Gear Solid V experience. I didn’t experience Ground Zero and am currently playing The Phantom Pain.  I’ve have been playing through the whole Metal Gear Solid series starting from Metal Gear Solid 2. I started this series because I watched a feature on Giant Bomb which two members play through the whole series. So I decided to join them. I watched the playthrough of Metal Gear Solid, and the way it looked and played with the camera made the game unappealing. What did appeal to me was the cut scenes. The game was a set piece in how video games presented cut scenes a meaningful way. Watching them play MGS: 2 was what brought me into the series

Mafia 3 First Impressions

Mafia 3 is the first game in the last 6 years for the series. The Mafia series is an immersive world that tackles street crimes and culture. Each of the games was set in the past in a reimagined city. In Mafia 3 the setting places you in 1968 in a reimagine version of New Orleans called, New Bordeaux. When 2K announced that they will be making an internal studio in 2014 to work on Mafia 3, many gamers were excited to see what 2K had in making a new development studio. Now that the game is released we finally can see Hanger 13s (Developers) work in action. Mafia 3 starts off with a strong and powerful opening prologue. You play as Lincoln Clay, a biracial orphan who just came back from the Vietnam war. His family and friends being the Black Mob; it didn’t take long for him to get himself into trouble. Over the course of the game you are able to recruit, kill, and steal NPCs in their appropriate district. Once you recruit NPCs/Bosses you will be able to send them to watch yo

Why Destiny: Rise of Iron Kept Me Away

After playing the game actively for two weeks I fell off after around 343 light. I didn’t spend much time with the last expansion, which made me to play catch-up with the other players. Rise of Iron was a really short expansion that didn’t really fix or improve on existing problems. The game is still enjoyable though. I’m still going to play, but not as frequent as its release. Hopefully, with the rumors of Destiny 2 things will be more polished and contain more content.   The first week of playing the game was fun. I felt a real personal connection with my character after taking a break from the game. All the raids I’ve done with random players, the Nightfalls that help me get most of my exotic equipment, and first place finishes in competitive multiplayer. I wanted to give the raid a shot, but the light level grind is a real chore after a couple of hours. When I got around 343 light level I started to slow down. The way the light level works is that each item is given a r

Valve Are Making Changes to the Steam Store

Valve is one of the biggest names in the video game industry making influential games like, Portal, Counter-strike, Dota, and Half-life. Over recent years Valve has taken a step back in game development. Their focus now has been improving on their PC gaming platform (Steam). Many updates and changes later, Steam has grown to become one of the most dominate gaming platforms on PC. Now Valve is working on a new revamped store page, promising major changes to what games the user see on the store page. The news wasn’t for public eyes, only steam developers got an early notice about the changes to come. A NeoGaf user Nzyme32 posted a full report from Valve and the changes that are coming in the near future. In the report Valve says they are completely changing the store front. In doing so they believe they can get the user to see games that interests them. Here is the full report of the Steam changes There are many changes that provide the user the right cont
