My 2016 Game of the Year: # 1 Overwatch

# 1 Overwatch For a while I’ve distance myself from first-person shooters, mostly because I didn’t feel like I was good. Now I don’t really mind if I’m playing bad or good just as long as I enjoy the time I had. That is especially true with Overwatch . When I first saw Overwatch I knew that this game was going to be great, not only because of Blizzard but the characters that Blizzard built into the game. Every hero has its own unique set of powers, in which it creates multiple composition and ways to attack. Blizzard has a reputation in keep player coming back, for Overwatch Blizzard implemented a loot box system. These loot boxes contain randomly amazing skins, emotes, spray paints, voices, and victory stances. Even after collecting a lot of collectables I still enjoy getting loot boxes, though they do come in duplicates, you can earn currency to buy the collectables. The neat thing about this system is that every event there are new collectables. This is one of th

My 2016 Game of the Year: # 2 Hitman

# 2 Hitman Hitman is a weird one, this was my first entry to the Hitman franchise. When this game first launched back in March, I had hope that this game would bring me into the stealth genre. It did the opposite, it was hard to understand the AI – I never knew what I was capable of while they were around. And the weapons were finicky – every weapon I used was difficult and wasn’t what I was use to when It comes to third person-shooting. By the end of my first mission I decided to refund the game. Skip nine months later, in that time I learned to appreciate the stealth genre – thanks to Dishonored. After watching multiple videos of Hitman and all the content IO interactive (Developers) add ed after my experience I wanted to give it another shot. This was one of the biggest surprise. Now that there are more maps everything doesn’t seem repetitive and is more interesting to explore. This helped a lot of the problems I had when I first picked up the game – the more I w

My 2016 Game of the Year: # 3 Titanfall 2

# 3 Titanfall 2 This is the last sequel to make it on my 2016 top five list – which was filled with sequel releases. I missed the release of the first Titanfall, mostly because it was an Xbox exclusive. Watching videos and hearing players saying how fast and fun the multiplayer was, made me curious what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to experience the multiplayer. The multiplayer aspect of the game was the best and the only part of the game that many players enjoy. The narrative was nowhere to be seen, instead Respawn (Developers) tried to implement narrative within multiplayer. This was a neat idea, but didn’t work. When playing multiplayer, you want to be focused on your surroundings and the players, there isn’t time to be listening and digesting the story. Titanfall 2 isn’t all that different, the core gameplay is still the same – which makes sense, if there isn’t anything broken don’t fix it. There were a lot of additions of new mech

My 2016 Game of the Year: # 4 Dishonored 2

# 4 Dishonored 2 Before this year, I have never touched Dishonored, but I was always curious of what kind of game it is. The day I saw the Dishonored 2 trailer at E3 2016 was what pushed me to finally buy the Dishonored Definitive Edition. And man, if this game was release this year it would be my favorite game of the year. Because of that, I didn’t have the four-year break from the first game that everyone else had. I felt fatigue, and part of it was the way I played, in every stealth game I want to weigh my options, I look in every room to see if there are better options before the assassination. Dishonored 2 is like its predecessor, but this time you can play as Corvo Attano (Main Character of Dishonored 1) with all his original abilities, or play as the young empress Emily Kaldwin with a brand-new set of abilities. Corvo Stays the Same, While Emily Grows Before starting the game, you get deicide to

My 2016 Game of the Year: # 5 Firewatch

#5 Firewatch When I first saw early builds of Firewatch I thought it was a different and new approach in an engaging narrative. The way you can interact with objects and the small clues you can find within the environment provides more life to the world. Firewatch was the first game I played in the genre, but there are other games that have the same kind of first-person narrative. Gone Home is one of the recent and well-received first-person narrative game. The two games are similar in gameplay, you walk from objective to objective trying to put the pieces together in the world. Gone Home is set in a house, and in Firewatch’s case, you’re in an open forest. Campo Santo are the developers of Firewatch and was formed by former Telltales: The Walking Dead developers. Once I knew about Campo Santo and the developers that were working on the game I had a sense of what to expect. Character Building Makes You Sympathize with Henry The game starts strong with a se

Hitman is Getting a Holiday Update

IO Interactive released a free Hitman holiday update trailer this week called “ Holiday Hoarders ”. The update will roll out new challenges every week in the month of December. This update is in spirt of giving , IO Interactive is releasing this update to support The World Cancer Research Fund. Hitman is one of my favorite games released this year, it took me awhile to realize that. The Holidays are for giving and Hitman has given us so many funny and enjoyable moments, so lets’ try to give back. The World Cancer Research Fund was the developers’ charity of choice, if anyone would like to donate here is the link the website   The “ Holiday Hoarders ” update is held in Paris at a Christmas themed fashion show. During the mission, presents will be scattered around the map, which leaves the opportunity for greedy thieves. Securing the presents before the thieves find them first will give you a random weapon that will assist you in your mission. December is the month

PlayStation Experience 2016 Was All About Trailers

This past weekend PlayStation Experience (PSX) was held in Anaheim Convention Center. And what an experience it was. Trailers was being presented left and right. Everything from Lara Croft Go to The Last of Us . Last year’s PSX didn’t show much trailers, but they were memorable. This year was the same, but more! With that there were also many highlights from it. Naughty Dog had a massive showing at PSX2016. Last year they showed Uncharted 4 , this year they showed off gameplay of what looks to be a stand-alone DLC for Uncharted known as,” Uncharted: The Lost Legacy .” In the trailer, you won’t be playing as Nathan Drake, but as Chloe ( Uncharted 2 & 3 ). She is sneaking through a war zone to meet with an accomplice, that you might know. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Uncharted was just a taste from Naughty Dog . At the end of the conference, Naughty Dog released, but has said that this game was in very early development. The Last of Us: Part 2 . The trailer had n

No Man’s Sky 1.1 “Foundation Update”

Finally, the silence from Hello Games has ended today, with the release of the Foundation Update. This is the first of many free updates. The Foundation Update gives the player three modes to choose from. Normal mode, Creative mode, and survival mode. Each mode presents new challenges for the player to overcome. Along with the new modes, there are also UI changes and tweaks to the overall gameplay. This was the update I was waiting for, it still may not be the game everyone wanted, but it’s a big step forward in making the game Hello Games imagined. The three modes you choose will impact the way you play. Normal mode doesn’t change much in terms of gameplay, but it’s the two new modes that change the way players play. Creative mode gives the player complete freedom, resources don’t play apart in your ship fuel or suit. The last mode is Survival which ramps up the difficulty. Resource intake is more severe, and environments are more hostile. These modes are a great addition,

Blizzard is Re-designing Symmetra’s Abilities

Prior to Overwatch’s release Blizzard had a firm layout for Overwatch. Anyone can switch heroes at any time without the restriction of multiple heroes. That’s now gone in quickplay and competitive play. Over the months after release, Blizzard is always iterating, improving, and balancing heroes. The recent change they made was to Symmerta. In a developer’s update video Jeff Kaplan (Blizzard VP and Overwatch’s Game Director) talked about redesigning Symmerta and what they want from the changes. One of Overwatch’s big appeal was the fact that your team composition was flexible during matches. Now Blizzard has shied away from some of those ideas. But it’s all for the better, they’ve added an arcade mode which lets the player have more options in game modes. And of course, there has been already many tweaks and changes to all the heroes. But nothing as severe as the upcoming Symmetra update. On Tuesday, Jeff Kaplan release a video that addresses Symmetra and how player are uti
