Titanfall 2’s New Update Changes the Pace of the Game

One of the biggest reason I gravitated to Titanfall 2 rather than Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was the promise that DLC and updates will be free. So far Respawn has been true to that – updating regularly, adding new abilities for Titans, and new maps. Yesterday was the release of their new update – Live Fire. This update gives players two new maps dedicated to the new Live Fire mode, they’re also changing the way mixtape finds a match. Along with these major updates are smaller bug fixes and improvements that would improve the overall experience. New & Improved Modes   Meadow Stacks This update was centered around the new modes, the first mode is Live Fire, and second is Private Match (still in beta). I didn’t experience Private Match and didn’t get a sense of why it’s in beta. I expect that it would work exactly like a custom match, but Respawn might want to add to it. The meat of the update is from the Live Fire mode. Live Fire is a new mode where

Blizzard Might Have Teased a New Young Prodigy Hero for Overwatch

Overwatch is centered around the characters, every hero affects one another because of their unique abilities. So, it makes sense that every character reveal feels like a huge event. Look at the long awaited Sombra, it took a long time for Blizzard to even confirm that she is the new hero being added – doing this adds and creates hype around the new character. Yesterday, Blizzard released a news article called, “Atlas News” which is the news outlet in Overwatch. I love seeing developers adding details about a game from an outside source. Many MMOs have done this – giving hints about the next big thing on the game’s website. Anyway, the news article is focused on a young 11-year old girl that lives in a city (in-game) named, “Numbani”. The article states that Efi Oladele has,” built a resume of impressive achievements in robotics and artificial intelligence.” Then last month Efi received Adawe Foundation’s “genius grant”. In receiving the grant, she agreed to an interview w

Season Pass for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is Best for Zelda

Nintendo is taking another new step towards Zelda’s development with a season pass which can be purchase on March 3 rd through the Nintendo E-Shop. The season pass will set you back another $20 with three expansion packs, the first pack will release on launch day, the 2 nd pack is set to release in the summer with the last pack planned to be released in the winter. The Season pass is coming to the Switch and Wii U. Season Pass: All 3 DLC Packs A lot of fans were outraged about their old franchises being unfinished and must pay the season pass to get the full experience, Breath of the Wild is the recent victim of these practices. Even though some gamers are used to the idea of DLC and Season passes, Nintendo hasn’t been known to release DLC for their games. The difference between Nintendo’s DLC plan to other companies is that Nintendo games are finished and DLC are just extra for the gamers, but DLC with other companies are content that didn’t make the full game and n

For Honor Open Beta Impressions and Thoughts

This marks the second beta from Ubisoft in the past two weeks. First with Ghost Recon: Wildlands closed beta and the For Honor beta was held this past weekend. Both have different release dates, For Honor just released today February 14 th and Ghost Recon will release on March 7 th . That was last weekend, this past weekend I wanted to try out the For Honor beta and was really surprise of how much fun I was having. Note, that this game is not finished and will change in its full release. Warriors of Honor I’ve jumped in not know a lot about For Honor , just that the combat system is intricate and deep. The idea of using different warriors in history is intriguing. Each warrior has completely different styles that work to their benefit during battle, for example: the Nobushi has a long spear that gives them range and to add insult to injury, each strike will add a bleeding effect to the enemy, or as a Kensei Samurai you wield a mid-range katana, but is slow when m

My Love, Hate Relationship with Dark Souls 3

My first introduction to the Souls franchise was not actually a Souls game, but with Bloodborne. I knew that these games were punishing but I didn’t think it would be hairpulling  difficult. Even when I thought I had the hang of things the smallest enemies destroyed me, and don’t even get me started with the bosses. I didn’t progress far out of the two games, and know the only way to progress is to keep at it, get better, and be patient. These elements might be “soul” crushing for players, but that’s the whole game. The fear and temptation of attacking, dodging, and blocking an enemy makes the combat system more intricate than other combat heavy games. What I love About Dark Souls 3 ·          The amount of customization of your character. When first starting out, you must choose a class and depending on what class you choose it can affect the way you play. An Assassin is mobile with quick strikes, and a Pyromancer can use fire magic out of the gate. Of course, you can s

Ghost Recon: Wildlands Closed Beta Impressions

Ubisoft has been known to develop massive open world games with the Far Cry series and Watchdogs. Of Course, Ubisoft knows that their shooters are well-known and fun to play as well, that’s why Ghost Recon: Wildlands has the best of both worlds. The open world nature of game forces players to get creative in combat with the environment. The shooting aspect of the game is that last piece of the puzzle. Shooting in this game can be used in many ways, you can stealthily kill a group of enemies, or go in guns blazing. From the two hours played in the closed beta, Ubisoft is mixing the two the success of the open world and the shooter genre to create a beautiful world with a lot to do, but doesn’t add to their formula. Character Creations/ Customization The character creation menu was limited in this beta, though has enough options to make the character you want. Just like most character creation menus, you can change hairstyles, eye colour, outfits, and tattoos. The most ro

Fire Emblem Heroes is Great for Beginners of the Franchise

Last year Nintendo announced that they are developing mobile games for Mario , Fire Emblem , and Animal Crossing . We already saw what a Mario mobile can be with Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing on mobile seems like a genius idea, to be able to bring your town with you on the go and explore other towns by physically walking to a curtain area, but Nintendo has delayed the title and won’t be shown until fiscal next year (which starts at the end of March). Don’t worry Fire Emblem did release on February 2 nd titled, “ Fire Emblem Heroes ”. Nintendo is creating buzz again in a different market, in turn introducing them to Nintendo’s successful IPs. Battle System Fire Emblem Heroes is true to its handheld predecessor – a turn-based tactical game. The grid system has been worked to fit on a mobile screen with an 8x6 grid creating a more compact and smaller experience of Fire Emblem . When starting a match, you must choose which hero is best for the situation. The weapon

Eidos Montreal Moves Forward with Marvel Project, While Deus Ex Takes a Backseat

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided released on August 23 rd and was well-regarded by many videogame outlets, that might be the only Deus Ex game you can experience for a while. Kotaku and Eurogamer reported that Eidos Montreal is shifting focus on the Marvel Project and cancelled a planned sequel to Deus Ex. Eidos Montreal is known for developing the Deus Ex franchise and recently with a leak, actively developing the next Tomb Raider title called Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In terms of reviews Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was great, but Square Enix thought it would be a good if this franchise took a backseat as the game didn’t do as well as expected from them. It was an investment that took five years to take place. Eidos Montreal has been supporting the game ever since release, adding some free DLC, two standalone story DLCs called, “System Rift” which is available now and another one called, “A Criminal Past” – this will be release on February 23 rd .
