As a kid, I never was into puzzle games, mostly because my
young brain wasn’t patient enough to handle the complexity of the puzzles even
if it’s a simple puzzle game. One day hanging out a relative’s house, I saw one
of my cousins playing something that seemed like a puzzle game but there was
one difference – there were cartoon versions of my favorite fighting game,
Street Fighter.
Watching these known characters battle while doing a
Tetris-like puzzle was mind-blowing for a 7 or 8-year-old to comprehend. Though
I never liked puzzle games, the fighting was a distraction. This game was the first
game that made me thought that two games can work amazingly well as a single
game.
That was 15 years ago, now its 2017 and Capcom is releasing
a new Puzzle Fighter game on iOS and Android later this year. Capcom released
two trailers showing some of the characters in action. Among those are Ryu,
Ken, Chun-Li, even Megaman, and other Capcom properties. From the trailer, it
seems like players will battle head-to-head in real-time with characters you
unlock. The characters are depicted through cards – the more you play the more
rewards you’ll be able to earn whether that be costumes, coins, etc. Also, for
the hardcore fans – there are leaderboards for those who want to rise to the
top.
