Super Puzzle Fighter Announced for Mobile

As a kid, I never was into puzzle games, mostly because my young brain wasn’t patient enough to handle the complexity of the puzzles even if it’s a simple puzzle game. One day hanging out a relative’s house, I saw one of my cousins playing something that seemed like a puzzle game but there was one difference – there were cartoon versions of my favorite fighting game, Street Fighter.

Watching these known characters battle while doing a Tetris-like puzzle was mind-blowing for a 7 or 8-year-old to comprehend. Though I never liked puzzle games, the fighting was a distraction. This game was the first game that made me thought that two games can work amazingly well as a single game.

That was 15 years ago, now its 2017 and Capcom is releasing a new Puzzle Fighter game on iOS and Android later this year. Capcom released two trailers showing some of the characters in action. Among those are Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, even Megaman, and other Capcom properties. From the trailer, it seems like players will battle head-to-head in real-time with characters you unlock. The characters are depicted through cards – the more you play the more rewards you’ll be able to earn whether that be costumes, coins, etc. Also, for the hardcore fans – there are leaderboards for those who want to rise to the top.

Mario Tennis Aces “Swing Mode” is Really Disappointing

Mario Tennis Aces is the latest entry to the Mario Tennis series. This time around Nintendo did no wrong with their tennis series giving us an adventure mode where you move from level to level to complete a series of challenges, a fun online/offline tournament, and exciting local play. I haven’t played the Mario Tennis series since the GameCube days, but I’m having as much fun as I did back then, expect for one mode that made me hate motion controls. During the lead up to launch I had questions about full motion controls, if they would support it for full matches? Can it be an alternative? and will it be like Wii Sports or will it have depth will in the base game? These questions were answered just a couple of days before launch and I was disappointed in how Nintendo implemented the motion controls. Coming from the developers of Wii Sports and how well the motion controls worked with the tennis mini-game gave me hope that Nintendo could do something great with motion ...

My Game of the Year (2017) – Destiny 2 #3

There was a lot of excitement for the Bungie ’s second go around with Destiny 2 . There was a lot of controversy over what was changed and what didn’t return from the first Destiny .  At first the changes were for the better, it allowed new players to finally wrap their head around the system that was difficult to process in original Destiny.   Rising reputation with an NPC is one change that was assessable newcomers. In Destiny 1 it always felt like a chore, because of the bounty system. This system made it a more difficult task due to the action associated with the bounty – this can range from headshots with a sniper in PvP to complete 3 strikes. With Destiny 2 , the reputation is more streamline with turn-in tokens. Earning these tokens are common and I great resource of gear/weapons when you’re first starting out. These tokens are associated with each planet. Its great Bungie is listening to the players and in doing so, made an assessable loot shooter for the ca...

Destiny 2 Event: An Underwhelming Return for Lord Saladin and The Iron Banner

Over the last week Destiny 2 held The Iron Banner, an event that occurs every month. Lord Saladin visits the tower with neat looking armor and weapons that will be rewarded to the guardians that are participating. This new iteration of The Iron Banner is great for new players, it gives them a reason to come back every day and the token system is simple, unlike the bounty system in Destiny 1. Though this iteration of Iron Banner caters to the new and casual audience, it leaves us mid to hardcore players with not much to care about. There’s nothing that progresses our power level, no difficulty with Light advantage off, and on top of that, players not committing to an Iron Banner match. Eastern-Inspired Iron Banner Gear  I’ve dabbled in Iron Banner in Destiny 1, it wasn’t my kind of game mode. I liked the PvP in both Destiny and Destiny 2, but once someone talks about hardcore PvP my interest was gone, my only incentives were getting the gear and getting my Light ...
