Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris Stream #1 – “New Stories to Tell”

With just under three weeks until the release of Curse of Osiris – Destiny 2’s first expansion, Bungie and their teams are hosting streams leading up to the release. These streams will be held on November 29th, 21st, and the 15th. Each stream will have a main theme that will reveal more of the expansion. The final stream, held on the 29th is centered around “New Gears to Earn” showing off new gear and weapons along with some new PvP maps. The stream held on the 21st is all about “New Ways to Play” and all the activities that will challenge you and your Fireteam. The first stream has gone and went; however, we did see somethings that the community wanted – including me.

At the beginning of the stream, Bungie revealed a new trailer for Curse of Osiris. The trailer showed us Osiris and his Ghost – Sagira chatting while they were infiltrating the Vex. He passes through the Vex gate and pauses time to helps the other guardians. Osiris then, looks into a time gate and sees a “dark” future in which he cannot save, he throws Sagira in a Vex gate in hopes someone will find her to prevent this dark future.

After the trailer, DeeJ the community manager, who hosted the stream showed up with two developers, a Narrative Lead (Christine Thompson), and the Art Director (Dave Matthews). Here they explain more about the creation of Osiris, revealing concept art, lore, and his Ghost. They talk about how middle-eastern culture heavily inspires Osiris esthetic and then explained all the loot he gathered through his time in exile, their example of one item is his bracers – they look like the Sunbracer but has a different glow.

Sagira is different from the Ghosts I’ve seen, she has a great personality, as seen in the trailer bantering with Osiris. She will play an important role in the expansion, as explained in other interviews – she will be our guide in finding Osiris. I want more of Sagira dialog, she’s light-hearted in a way most characters aren’t, and as a Ghost I hope she’s in our ear like our Ghost.

They then moved on to Mercury and explained that they wanted it to be mysterious, to create wonder. In the stream, DeeJ showed gameplay of Mercury and Christine explained that Mercury was once a green, lush, and bright land until the Vex came and made it into a Vex hive mind.

Walking through Mercury, they encountered and entered through a Vex gate, in which they described it as wanting it to feel “Dream-like”. Through this gate they explained how the Infinite Forest will change with every encounter, with new enemies, different landscapes, and a different boss. Though encounters change, it’s not procedurally generated.

Players from Destiny 1 will have recognized the new vendor on Mercury – Brother Vance. He is part of the Osiris cult, but most of all he is his biggest fan. Walking through the Lighthouse, it seemed peaceful. As DeeJ explore the area there were things to take note of, first was the “History Marker”, this will open after the story and doing quest will give you the ability to forge Vex-type weapons, each of the markers will show how many your able to create, and each glowing glyph represents a type of weapon. Another noteworthy item in the Lighthouse was the Forge which is connected to the History Maker by Vex technology. The Forge brings elements together to create a forged weapon.

Raid Content?

After a quick change in developers, DeeJ explains all the changes in the Directors page. The first new feature isn’t new; however Heroic Strikes Playlist are back. Mercury was also added, and you can see that it has been infested with the Vex. Not much has changed but the architect is Vex-like, hopefully there is more to it with the next streams.

Now, we’re moving on to the most exciting announcement -- the raid content, and who better to explain then the developers of the raids, as they welcomed Stuart Monske and Brendon Throne on to the set. We have been wondering and theorizing about what this raid content is? Well, now we have an idea of what it is. A Raid Lair, they’re calling it.

Now this isn’t a new raid, as our current raid will have more raid encounters that you can opt into – this doesn’t mean there are more encounters within the raid but more encounters on the raid area. The Raid Lair will drop new loot, but the original raid will also get an update to its loot, so you can always feel like you’re progressing. Along with the new loot, there will be a new boss, and new encounters. Even though this is a raid it will not be as long as a fully new raid. This won’t be the first implementation of the Raid Lair as other expansions will feature this so called “Raid Lair”.

With these changes, comes changes to other parts of the current raid. Recommended power level will be increased from 270 to 300.

This being the first stream out of three, they made me excited for the future of Destiny 2. Osiris is a character that a lot of players wanted to know about and now that we have some and potentially more information on Osiris and his mission. In this stream I was expecting lore and story – which we got, but I didn’t expect to have gameplay nor did I expect raid information. It was surprising but effective as it got me playing base Destiny 2 in excitement for the December 5th release of Curse of Osiris.

I want, and hope Bungie keeps me excited in playing Destiny 2 with the new activates and loot from the next streams on the 21st, and 29th. This was just the beginning, and to know there are more information coming before the expansion releases gets me excited to just know more about it.

Fortnite: Battle Royale: Season 4 Just Made Some Crazy Changes and I in Love with it

Fortnite has become this huge juggernaut in the gaming industry ever since Epic released their Battle Royale mode in late September. The Battle Pass implementation gave the player a progression system that gamify the Battle Royale mode, of which PUBG does not have. Having something to accomplish in-between gathering and fighting during each match creates a sense of accomplishment. In a game where there is a 100-player free-for-all fight, your chances of winning are low, allowing the Battle Pass rewards gives the player this satisfaction of accomplishment even if you lose. Over the past month, Epic has been teasing and creating ARGs in-game for the lead up to Season 4. Hearing about the meteors crashing down on Tilted Towers was cool but I didn’t think anything of it, as I thought it to be a cosmetic choice. But after seeing the video where Titled Towers got hit with small meteors during a match made me believe that the rumored Superhero themed Season Pass might be true. Long a
