Zelda: Breath of the Wild has New Details for the First DLC Pack

Before Breath of the Wild was released, Nintendo announced two DLC packs for the game with the first DLC pack set to release in the summer and the second during the holiday season. Nintendo wasn’t clear on the details with DLC packs, now that it’s closer to summer details for the first DLC pack called, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – The Master Trials” has been set.

Hero’s Path

What we will see in the first DLC are a new map feature that will track your steps over the last 200 hours, this is a great addition to the game – I’m in love with the world and to have this means I can backtrack and find things I’ve missed. By opening the map there will be a green path that tracked all your movement. A neat addition to this feature is every track distance can be determined by a timeline. This helps adventurers re-track to the breath-taking moments and interesting vistas around Hyrule.

Trial of the Sword

Previously known as “Cave of Trails Challenge”, Trail of the Sword is a 45-room horde mode with some twists. You start without armor or weapons, and if you have played this game, you know that this game can be punishing especially without armor and weapons. Once completed it’s said, “the true power of the Master Sword will awaken and will always be in its glowing powered-up state.”

Hard Mode

If you don’t think Breath of the Wild is hard enough and want the challenge the first DLC will provide a hard mode for all you hardcore Zelda players. Hard mode increases all enemies “ranks” and even higher-ranks of enemies that you have never seen before, for example Red Bokoblins are now blue. Not only that, but enemies will now regenerate health slowly, this encourages a more offensive approach during combat. This difficultly will make it more difficult to sneak behind enemies, which is a huge part of exploration and combat.

Travel Medallion

This new feature is something I didn’t think anyone needed but I can see the positives. This medallion is an item that can be found in a chest, once found – you can use it to create a fast-travel point, in which you can travel at any point. The negative about this whole addition is it can be only used once in one location.

New Equipment

There will be eight new sets of equipment that will be in the DLC, all of which are themed by fan-favorite games and characters. A couple of them being, a Majora’s Mask, Tingle’s outfit, Midna’s helmet, and Phantom Armor. We don’t know if these equipment’s have an extra effect or if they’re just for show. One item we do know about is the “Korok Mask”. This mask will allow the player to find korok seeds faster with a vibrating indicator when near a korok puzzle.

These are all in the first DLC pack, the thing is that we must wait until the summer until we can contain this content. But Nintendo isn’t stopping with that. Yesterday Nintendo released a patch that many fans have been waiting for... the options to change languages, nine languages to be exact. Japanese is the best version, because it’s the game’s native language of Nintendo. In addition to Japanese there are English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian. This is one of the best update for Breath of the Wild so far. I never like the English voice acting in a Japanese game, for this to come now is a warm welcome for new and existing players.

The Master Trails are just the first in a two part DLC. When Nintendo announced the DLC packs I was excited, I knew how massive this game was and to add more is something I will always praise I developers for, this is especially for a Nintendo title. This is just the start for supporting Breath of the Wild. We already know that this game is amazing, so over time it should be better, right? I want to see where this game stands after a year like most AAA games.

Destiny 2’s New “Gambit” Mode Revived the Game’s Competitive Scene

Destiny 2’s competitive scene has always been a second thought compared to the co-op PvE activities. At the launch of Destiny 2 Bungie tried a different more team-play orientated approach with an all 4v4 pvp match-up. Over time players got tired of that formula, especially, the way players were strategizing. The only way to be competitive is to team-shot a player at long distance, this was the only way everyone played. This kept the matches long and stale. Bungie understood the frustration and decided that they will change something about the Crucible (PvP). In July, Bungie pushed an update that changed the 4v4 format for Crucible to a 6v6, just how it was like in Destiny 1. Adding two more players on a team might not seem like a big change, but it completely changes how freely your team can strategize, this is especially true with solo matchmaking. Bungie knocked it out of the park with this change, of course they had a lot of help from the community. The community wanted th...

Mario Tennis Aces “Swing Mode” is Really Disappointing

Mario Tennis Aces is the latest entry to the Mario Tennis series. This time around Nintendo did no wrong with their tennis series giving us an adventure mode where you move from level to level to complete a series of challenges, a fun online/offline tournament, and exciting local play. I haven’t played the Mario Tennis series since the GameCube days, but I’m having as much fun as I did back then, expect for one mode that made me hate motion controls. During the lead up to launch I had questions about full motion controls, if they would support it for full matches? Can it be an alternative? and will it be like Wii Sports or will it have depth will in the base game? These questions were answered just a couple of days before launch and I was disappointed in how Nintendo implemented the motion controls. Coming from the developers of Wii Sports and how well the motion controls worked with the tennis mini-game gave me hope that Nintendo could do something great with motion ...

The Calming, out of this World Experience from Tetris Effect is a Great Change of Pace and Emotion from Other Tetris games

Ahh, Tetris. A game that your parents and almost every other parent knows. The longevity of it has made it evolve over its existents with the “hold” mechanic – which I’ve grown up with -- and doubling down on the competitive nature of Tetris with Tetris Battle, Tetris DS, Puyo Puyo Tetris, and more. Growing up I was terrible at Tetris – making lines with falling blocks was simple enough, but I didn’t understand how to fix my mistakes. There are many insane Tetris players that I can’t even think about competing with. The stress of trying to keep the best layout of blocks while trying to keep up with my opponent is too intense for my taste. However, Tetris Effect is the total opposite of all those competitive Tetris incarnations. The way Enhanced Games and Mizuguchi plays with music and players emotions to then incorporate it into a puzzle game or even something like Rez: Infinite can give old concepts like Tetris a new breath life. Everything in Tetris Effect is amplified by x...
